For effective lice treatment, here’s what to look for

Once you have positively identified the presence of head lice, you should initiate lice treatment. For best results, make sure your lice treatment meets the 3 key criteria on our recommended checklist. The RID® One & Done with Ivermectin and all RID® SUPER MAX lice treatment kits provide these important benefits.

Lice treatment checklist:

1

EFFECTIVE AGAINST SUPER LICE

Not all lice treatments kill super lice. Super lice are lice that have built a genetic resistance to traditional treatments containing pyrethrin or permethrin. Look for a treatment that kills super lice for maximum effectiveness.

2

EFFECTIVE AGAINST LICE EGGS (NITS)

Not all lice treatments are effective against eggs (nits); some rely solely on combing to remove eggs (nits). For best results, choose a treatment that either kills eggs (nits) or renders them non-viable.

3

PEDIATRICIAN RECOMMENDED BRAND

Make sure the product that you choose is a brand trusted and recommended by Pediatricians.  RID® is a pediatrician recommended brand trusted by pediatricians.

Other key considerations:

LICE DEFENSE:

After treating lice, you don’t want to see them return. Unfortunately, there could still be lice circulating at school or camp if that is where lice were contracted. For immediate lice defense, look for treatments that include lice defense ingredients. For ongoing 24/7* lice defense, you can also use RID Daily Defense Shampoo & Conditioner after treating lice to get daily defense against new lice.

HOME CONTROL:

While lice prefer to stay on the human scalp, they can survive up to 3 days on household surfaces like furniture, rugs, mattresses, or car interiors. For added peace of mind, use RID® SUPER MAX Home Control Spray to kill super lice and eggs on non-washable surfaces. It’s safe for homes with pets when used as directed.

NO COMBING REQUIRED:

RID® One & Done contains 0.5% Ivermectin, the latest FDA-approved, prescription-strength medicine available in an over-the-counter lice treatment. Only one application is needed, with no second treatment required. It also eliminates the need for tedious combing, making it especially helpful for thick, curly, or long hair and easier for use on young children.

SENSITIVE SKIN NEEDS:

If your child tends to have sensitive skin, look for a hypoallergenic lice treatment formula that is gentle on skin but tough on lice. RID® SUPER MAX Sensitive Skin  is safe for sensitive skin without compromising effectiveness.
